Success in Alberta!

There is an amazing school in Calgary Alberta similar to what Vernon OAK Elementary inspires to be, that all those hoping for a brighter educational future for our children should check out. It is called the Alberta Classical Academy. In fact, the very impressive original founder Caylan Ford has succeeded at opening not one, but three of these schools!

Opening up a new school is obviously a huge project and many things need to occur between the initial dream and actual children walking through the front door. Alberta is the only province in Canada that has charter schools which are independent non-sectarian public schools fully funded by the government. However, although Caylan and her team avoided the first massive hurdle of having to look for donations and private investors, she told the Vernon OAK directors during an interview that there were many 80 hour weeks and a slew of small miracles that occured before opening up her schools in record time. 

Today, the Alberta Classical Academy is a huge success. Nine hundred children are receiving an enriching educational experience, parents are thrilled and the waiting list is in the thousands. Yes, people really want these schools for their children, whether you live in Alberta or BC or elsewhere in Canada. This is why the Vernon OAK team will continue to push forward despite the challenges. Because where there is one, more will follow. And one day BC children will be fortunate enough to experience something similar to what is shown here on this promotional video for the Alberta Classical Academy; and it will be a good day indeed.
